Video: ALEC in Minnesota

by JeffStrate on April 21, 2012 · 2 comments

With a growing body of Minnesota-based videos and reporting about ALEC (the American Legislative Exchange Council) though MPP, Common Cause Minnesota and Mothers Against Military Madness, Democratic Visions here attempts to summarize what has been happening — albeit in a simplified TV kind of way.   Here you go:

The video is part of our April program seen on Minneapolis, southwest suburban and Blooming Cable systems.

informative, with a good montage and bullet points kind of presentation about what the average voter needs to know about
ALEC.

I think we should run more of that kind of stuff here, and elsewhere. Not about just about ALEC, but about any issue of interest to Dems and voters in general. A good counter to GOP propaganda and issue-castrated professional media coverage…

…that you can ship around the internet easily. So long as it’s true, I don’t give a damn that it favors the Dem side of the political argument.

Parents United, http://www.parentsunited.org/, does a great job exposing ALEC’s foray into education policy. ALEC’s attacks on public education are just as insidious, and destructive as any other. It seems, sadly, many progressives ignore or even applaud ALEC type efforts at dismantling education and the teaching profession. We can all agree that ALEC is a terrible thing, but when it comes to ALEC allies like Student’s First and Michelle Rhee, all of a sudden those efforts seem legitimate.
